Balanced Body 4 Birth

Prep for an easier more efficient birth
About Me.
My journey into birth work started in 2011 when I graduated from nursing school and took my first job as a labor and delivery nurse. I was trained by a nurse who possessed a deep understanding of our innate ability to birth a child as a woman. Always hungry for more knowledge, I read numerous studies, books and learned more about different natural birthing techniques. My first true introduction to physiologic birth was Spinning Babies, whose methods I utilized in encouraging more favorable fetal positioning during my own twin pregnancy. I then attended a Spinning Babies workshop and started utilizing their techniques at the bedside with great results.
I came to The Body Ready Method by way of a Spinning Babies newsletter and signed up for their training and certification process in 2022. I developed a deep understanding of physiologic birth, biomechanics of the body and the pelvis and how to best prepare for and support the body for an easier, more efficient pregnancy, birth and postpartum experience. I've used the knowledge I have gained at the bedside with incredible success, seeing shorter lengths of labor, decreased time of pushing, decreased perineal tearing and decreased cesarean section numbers for my laboring patients. I now want to take that knowledge and help my clients prepare their bodies during the prenatal period for an easier, more efficient birth and postpartum recovery. Rather than simply being re-active at the bedside with release techniques and optimal positioning for creating space in the pelvis, I want to help my clients be proactive in their pregnancy. I want to help my clients prepare their mind and create balance in the body and soft tissues, which lead to an easier birth, which often requires limited to no actual release work at the bedside itself!

A certified BRM Pro is a professional trained in the Body Ready Method, a specialized approach to prenatal and postpartum fitness and body preparation. These professionals use evidence-based techniques to help individuals prepare their bodies for pregnancy, childbirth, and recovery. They focus on functional movement, core strength, pelvic health, and overall body alignment to optimize health and mobility during the childbearing years. Certified Body Ready Method Pros often work with pregnant and postpartum clients to enhance comfort, reduce injury risks, and support long-term wellness through customized exercise and movement programs.
What is Physiologic birth and Body Ready Method?
Physiologic Birth Prep using Body Ready Method Principles
Physiologic birth is characterized by spontaneous onset and progression of labor. It addresses physiology first when a complication or stall in labor has occurred prior to medical intervention. A normal physiologic birth is one that is powered by the innate human capacity of the woman and fetus.
BRM® is an approach to using whole body functional tools with the perinatal population that can help with:
● Body balancing to help baby find their best position
● Prenatal aches and pains
● Pelvic floor dysfunction
● Core support to minimize issues with abdominal separation and diastasis recti
● A more efficient birth by optimizing the body during pregnancy
● A smoother postpartum recovery
Using the law of specificity, BRM® trains the body specifically for the task at hand: pregnancy, birth, and recovery. Pregnancy and birth are immense physiological processes that, ideally, should be specifically supported rather than simply modifying one’s regular routine. BRM® uses a 5 pillar method to help the pregnant and birthing body achieve balanced strength and mobility in order to not only minimize aches, pains, and dysfunction, but to also support a more efficient birthing process. When the body has been specifically supported for the task of pregnancy and birth, the body is primed for an easier and smoother transition into postpartum and for recovery.
Pregnancy is a huge physical feat, yet most are not given the tools they need to appropriately and adequately support their body through this process. We believe an empowered pregnancy should include specific education and support for the pregnant body including the core, pelvic floor, upper body mobility, pelvis and body alignment or movement pattern education. Not only can this minimize or even eliminate symptoms and dysfunction that we are often told are “just a normal part of pregnancy,” it also prepares the body for a more efficient birth and a smoother postpartum recovery.
Birth is a physiological process and we believe that the body is wise. However, that wisdom is often lost in the modern world. We believe that all birthing people deserve to be offered positional and hands on release work. We believe that these low risk, easily accessible tools can encourage comfort and progress and that these tools can oftentimes eliminate the need for medical interventions that come with higher risk. This not only can create greater satisfaction and empowerment in birth, it can also minimize childbirth related injuries and encourage a smoother recovery and postpartum transition.
The Body Ready Method ® empowers expecting and birthing individuals to take control of the controllables of prenatal preparation and birth support. The BRM® approach allows them to feel resilient and strong in their bodies and prepared for the incredible journey through birth, regardless of the type of birth they are planning or end up having.
Why work with a BRM® pro?
Body Ready Method ® professionals understand, deeply, how to support the pregnant body to find resilience, strength, and mobility. They are equipped to help you prepare for a more functional pregnancy and a more efficient birthing process. Moreover, these professionals are experts in pelvic mechanics and understand what to do during every stage of the birthing process to encourage progress and optimize balanced space in the pelvis and surrounding soft tissues.
